Bayside Speed Team, Update
With Speed Nationals just around the corner it’s the perfect time to reflect on the achievement of the Bayside Speed Team over the last 18 years and to look forward to what we can offer to the sport of Speed Skating in the future.
Bayside Blades has enjoyed the support of some amazing skaters over this period, including Andy Finster, John Bueker, Shane Yost, Sam Evans, Kosie Liu, Craig Hart, Craig Hawke and more recently Harry Stogdale, Giselle Stogdale, Oscar Skidmore, Stuart Cowin and Alex Myint.
It has truly been an honour to see so many amazing skaters wearing the Bayside Team colours and to be involved in a some small way in their many achievements.
With Giselle Stogdale winding back her commitment to Speed last year and Harry Stogdale choosing to reduce his commitment at the end of 2023, I wanted to take this time to express our gratitude for everything you have done for Bayside Blades and the sport of Speed Skating.
It has been a pleasure to watch your development and to witness the amazing achievements you have made, both locally and on the international stage. We thank you so much for the time and efforts you put into our partnership.
As we looked to the future of the Bayside Team, we have decided to make a change to the structure of our team for 2024, allowing us to widen our focus and begin to support younger skaters as well as continuing our alliance with existing elite team members.
This change will open up a couple of spots for promising younger skaters to become part of the Bayside Team, with a view to assisting them in their development as speed skaters.
The first of these skaters will be Ben Randall and we are proud to announce Ben will be wearing the Bayside Team colours at the Sydney Nationals, starting Monday 15th January.
